Meeting in Regensburg

In April 2023, the city of Regensburg organized its first Conference ,”Together in the future. Together sustainable”, dedicated to the sustainable development goals defined by the United Nations. Regensburg invited all its twin cities, as well as all those in the International Network of Michelin Cities (INMC). 9 cities took part, including Magog and Vallodid. The meeting enabled the cities to share their respective projects and exchange experience in implementing these sustainable development goals.

Lab in Anderson

The Anderson Lab builds on the April 2023 meeting in Regensburg. This workshop focused on 3 objectives of the 17 SDGs: Affordable and Clean Energy (7), Climate action (13) and Partnerships for the goals (17). Participating cities presented the various projects they have put in place to achieve these goals by 2030.

Michelin opened the Lab by presenting its new unit dedicated to adapting to climate change.

This was followed by Regensburg, which presented its “Future Barometer”, a real indicator of the SDGs. It’s an interactive platform located right in the city center that allows visitors to visualize the progress of the city. Regensburg also presented its industrial decarbonization project, which is currently being implemented.

The Lab participants

Bridgewater (CA) presented its “Energize Bridgewater” project, launched five years ago. This initiative has made it possible to renovate numerous homes to reduce energy losses and thus cut electricity bills in half.

Finally, the city of Norman (OK-USA) explained the US Mayors’ Climate Agreement signed in 2005, which is aligned with the Kyoto Protocol. This agreement focuses on 12 elements to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase environmental protection.

Continuation of the Lab

The Lab is set to continue with the organization of a videoconference led by Michelin and the Clermont-Ferrand metropolis in the autumn. The central theme of this workshop will be adaptation to climate change. Each city will be asked to present the actions it is taking in its area to adapt to climate change in the best possible way.
