Dancing Together: when culture federates INMC cities and their inhabitants

On May 17, 2025, over one thousand people attended a free and open-to-the-public event hosted by the City of Clermont-Ferrand, ‘Dancing Together’, which featured dancers from the Regional Conservatory of Clermont-Ferrand and from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK.

This shared event between Norman and Clermont-Ferrand, both sister cities and members of the International Network of Michelin Cities, was the opportunity to witness dancers’ mastery of their art, for the enjoyment of young and old alike. On top of the strong emotion conveyed, the show was also a convincing proof that culture can federate cities, encouraging collaboration between INMC members and bringing people together.

This event followed on from a previous trip of the Conservatory of Clermont-Ferrand to Norman in January 2025, where student dancers from Clermont-Ferrand had been able to learn from the expertise of Oklahoma University. Both shows, in Norman and in Clermont-Ferrand, displayed a variety of dance styles to the public, from classical to contemporary dance and jazz. The dansers’ creativity, artistic commitment and dynamism was showcased in a powerful and gripping performance.

‘Dancing Together’ was a successful and concrete result of an INMC-initiated project, from which inhabitants of Clermont-Ferrand and Norman benefited. It leaves the door open to a potential second edition between other members of the Network.
