The INMC Student Program

Beginnings in Querétaro (MX)

Students from Querétaro

Despite its restricted format, the 3rd INMC Conference in Quéretaro (March 16-18, 2022) was a strong vehicle for city commitment. By signing an act of peace and solidarity of support for Ukraine and the Quéretaro Declaration in favor of the Sustainable Development Goals, INMC cities have clearly positioned their priorities. It was also during these meetings that the mayor of Querétaro decided for the first time to involve the students who will be the pilots of tomorrow’s world. Due to sanitary conditions, only students from Querétaro were invited to take part in the various Labs and activities offered during the Meetings. The students also provided real support to the delegations present, sharing not only their knowledge of the host city but also their language skills, which were essential to the smooth running of the event.

To continue the Student Program initiated in Quéretaro, 8 students from 8 INMC cities, accompanied by Anderson students, took part in the Labs with the delegations and discussed sustainable mobility and the sustainable development goals defined by the United Nations (SDGs). During visits to Clemson and Anderson Universities, the students shared their vision of the themes addressed at the Conference and presented a report on their discussions to all the delegations present.

The rest of the program

The university representatives present at Anderson worked on new cooperations, such as a Summer Camp project to enable students to spend a week in different Network universities, working on psychological and post-traumatic issues linked to war.

In addition, the University of Clermont Auvergne (UCA), which has been awarded the European University label thanks to its Artemis program (Alliance for Regional Transition, Equality, Mobility, Inclusion and Sustainability), will be piloting the creation of a sustainable mobility laboratory. In September, a steering committee made up of university towns from the INMC and the Artemis Alliance will be set up to launch the project.
