Description

Just ten minutes from the center of San Sebastián, Lasarte-Oria is a well-situated town for accessing the attractions of the surrounding area. Its transport links are excellent, whether by road (N-1) or by train.

To the north of Lasarte-Oria lies Donostia-San Sebastián and Usurbil, to the south is Andoain, to the east Urnieta and Hernani and to the west the river Oria. It forms a kind of triangle-shaped area extending from the banks of the Oria.

Its proximity to the capital of San Sebastián has historically attracted many events and sporting and hospitality infrastructures to the town. One notable example is the racecourse, which, while belonging to the municipal area of San Sebastián, lies right next to Lasarte-Oria’s urban hub. Events such as the horseracing season attract a great many devotees from both near and far.

The hospitality infrastructure is a key asset, in particular the excellent restaurants of the town, some of which are internationally renowned, such as Martín Berasategi with 3 Michelin stars, making Lasarte-Oria a true gastronomic benchmark.

Where the town’s economy is concerned, the tire industry is of particular importance with the Michelin factory, foundries and machinery. Lasarte-Oria is an eminently industrial town, but, as we have explained, it boasts major visitor attractions with sites that are well worth visiting.
